BCFilms is based in Southern California. We have moved our
operations to Los Angeles but do most of our
work between LA and San Diego. However, we are a
virtual, collaborative entity with our members circling the globe,
composing and sharing our imagination and adventures, hoping one day to
reveal them on the big screen for an international audience.
CURRENT ACTIVITIES:
BCFilms
is excited to share that our first short film: THE BEAUTY OF WAR was screened in two
film festivals in September 2005 and is now available to view on the
BCFilms MySpace site. The World Premiere was
presented in 35mm at one of the best theatres in the world: The ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood, CA during the Los
Angeles International Short Film Festival. At the San Diego Film Festival,
our beautiful short film was screened three times,
the first two screenings were sold out. The film was very well received and
we consider the San Diego Film Festival to have been a huge success. We had
so much fun sharing our film and we also took this excellent opportunity to
meet many other exciting and talented filmmakers. BCFilms would like to
send our gratitude and sincere thanks to those who made the San Diego Film
Festival such a great success for our first film.
Here are some technical details on the shooting of THE BEAUTY OF WAR: It was shot in
High Definition on HDCAM (1080/24p) with a Sony f900 by an amazing
cinematographer, Daniel S. Haas. We shot exclusively in the San Diego area, at the Alpine
Historical Society Museum and in the rolling hills of Descanso
in east San Diego County. The HDCAM edit was
completed in the spring and it was transferred to 35mm film at eFilm and Deluxe for the LA screening. THE BEAUTY OF
WAR is a beautifully shot six minute short film about a young boy hoping
for his brother's safe return home after WWII has ended.

OUR HISTORY:
Originally, a few years ago, BCFilms began with our first attempt at
a corporate short. It was eventually scrapped but well worth the effort and
an incredible learning experience for those involved. It is still available
for laughs by request. (See email above.) Then we moved on to create our
first short film THE BEAUTY OF WAR, shot in Fall of
2004 and completed in HD and transferred to 35mm in Fall of 2005. Now we
are currently rewriting and working to begin our first feature film
project, hoping to start it early 2008. In the meantime, BCFilms will continue
in our efforts to expand our team of independent and student filmmakers
living and working in Southern California who have the desire, dedication,
and ability to create compelling and exciting stories and bring them to
life on the big screen.
ON THE HORIZON:
BCFilms is currently writing three feature film screenplays. We have
recently finished two new feature length screenplays, one original and the
other an adaptation. Between current rewrites on these two new scripts,
were also into our sixth rewrite of our original feature length comedy
screenplay, so STAY TUNED!! We hope to begin
shopping around the screenplays after July and begin funding to shoot one
early next year. Besides the writing we are knee deep into, we are always
on the lookout for up-and-coming independent filmmakers to collaborate
with. We have been hoping to write a short film series we've had on the
back burner for a while, and also have a television series pilot story that
is simmering. Unfortunately, these projects have been pushed back slightly
in priority, but we'll walk the road ahead and keep our priorities straight
along the way. Most of all, we plan to have way too much fun on this crazy
ride ahead.
MISSION:
In collaboration with many regional production companies,
screenwriting groups, studios, online Internet communities, international
businesses, and other independent filmmakers; BCFilms' interests focus on
all formats of filmmaking including digital and film, shorts and
documentaries, but most of all feature length films. We work to create
imaginative, thought provoking, emotional, and of course entertaining
films. Keep your eyes pealed and your ear to the tracks for more from
BCFilms.
